Course Details Spring 2021
Module 1: Negotiation and the Abraham Path
Start May 16 – Live Session May 20
What do walking and stories have to do with negotiation and how can these empower us to negotiate effectively? We will explore the ethos of API and its essence founded in the practice of negotiation.
Module 2: Generating Options and Creating Value
Start May 23 – Live Session May 27
How often do we end up compromising in a negotiation? In addition to dissatisfaction, lack of full exploration of all prospective outcomes translates to lost opportunities. This week, we will learn how to meet all parties’ interests and further maximize value in a negotiation.
Module 3: Emotions, Culture, Identity: Cultivating Awareness
Start May 30 – Live Session June 3
Humans love frameworks and formulas, and we are most effective when we move with full awareness of our emotions (versus trying to mitigate or suppress them). This week, we will discuss the role of culture in negotiation, and simultaneously, the fundamental core aspects that make us all human.
Module 4: Bringing it All Together: Process and Preparation
Start June 6 – Live Session June 10
During our final week, we will bring it all together by deepening our awareness when we negotiate in order to effectively devote time and attention to the process. The most successful negotiators are well-prepared. This skill will be put to the test in a live multiparty negotiation.
